Zion is a canyon shaped by the Virgin river. Today still the river still carries away a ton of silt and rock each year. In Zion there were a lot of hanging gardens. A hanging garden is where a bunch of plants grow on a rock. They are formed when water is flowing down the rock abut gets stopped and has to go out horizontally. This gives water for plants to be able to grow even though there is no soil. Also Zion is in a unique place. It is unique because the lower part of the canyon is considered part of the Mojave desert, while the upper part of the canyon is considered part of the Colorado plateau.

Hiking the narrows. It the most famous slot canyon hike in Zion. The Virgin River meanders through the towering walls of sandstone. As you hike through the canyon you are hiking through the river.
Notice the hanging garden half way up the wall. |

Awesome lighting on the rocks as the sun sets and rises.
We climbed one 5.7 in Zion called Cave Crack. It was by far the hardest 5.7 we've done!
Leaving Zion we got some more great shots of the sun setting.
